Espresso coffee machines
From 1901 when the first espresso machine was made many variable and necessary changes have
been incorporated into these espresso making machines to suite various types and tastes of the
consumer. This has also seen many different kinds of forces driving the espresso coffee, machines also changing
from being manual to being automatic and super automatic ones.
Espresso coffee machines
These machines are various and some are powered differently for example the:
• Steam driven - This machine unit operates by forcing water to the coffee by the aid of
steam or steam pressure. This kind of machines were the first types of espresso machines and espresso was
produced when a boiler was fixed to four group heads so that the many or multiple types of coffee could be made at
the same time. This machine despite the times and ages, can be found ion small or low-cost consumer machine because
it does not need to have a moving part for it to function properly. At the market, the steam driven units are still
sold together with the drip-coffee machine.
• The piston driven machines - This espresso machine was made in 1945 in Italy by Achille
Gaggia who is also the founder of the espresso machine normally reefed to Gaggia. This machines use levers which
are pumped by the operator to pressurize the hot water and send it to the coffee grinds. Conventionally, the act of
making espresso is known as pulling a shot because these lever dependent espresso machines depended on pulling a
long handle to give a shot of espresso. However there are two types of lever machines namely the manual, and the
piston design lever machine. So the manual piston involves the operator pulling and pushing water through the
ground coffee beans. While the piston design, the operator to give a spring some tension so that the pressure can
be delivered to the machine for espresso to be brewed.
• The third type of coffee and espresso machine is the pump driven. Machine which is a
refined piston machine. This is one of the most popular kinds of espresso machines in circulation today in
commercial espresso bars and places of selling. Here instead of using manual force, motor powered pump gives enough
force and torque necessary for espresso making. The commercially or the high end pump driven machines are often
fixed directly to the tap in the house where as the lower end home machines have inbuilt water storage facility. It
is typical it get pump espresso machines using a single chamber for both heating water to brewing temperature and
standard and at the same time boil water for streaming milk. And because the temperature for brewing
coffee is different from the one for creating steam, the machine therefore needs a little time to make transition
and change from one mode to the other for a more perfect and successful work to be done.
Automatic espresso coffee
machine
This machines are made in such a way that they will do all the brewing job
automatically immediately they are put on because they are prompted to do must that.
